The old time camp meetings
The cheering laughter of the
little ones melted into the thin air
As they marched home with
their parents to imitate the Godly life
Smiles lit up their faces
like candles glowing in the night
With the elderly the story
was told in many versions
For on some faces unspeakable
joy gripped their souls
To them this was all the
assurance that said God did it all
He had raised their hearts to
a place where eagles go
And in that place their strength was renewed
As they soared on wings like
eagles
They were like them who ran
and never tired
No wrinkle of despair could
be seen,for they were not weary
The youth jubilantly bid
farewell to their companions
As another season of grace
had been bestowed upon their souls
They were to go and be the
salt of entire world
A true light, a city on hill
top that cannot be hid
To run a race in which they
would be rewarded in the end
Everyone left with a hope ,
a new challenge to live for Christ
Very few left unconvinced
unsure of their decisions
As they knew the truth but
still did not understand
Yet even to these hard core
radicals with hearts still made of stone
There was an assurance,that
their rock heart spirits had been softened
Just more of these precious
days of worship and consecration
The Lord will surely have won
their hearts for eternity
For another soul this will be
the last
Their days of departure have
drawn nigh
Never more to here the words
of salvation that the angels long to explore
To some the past few days
have restored their future hence they will depart with no regret
To others they shall be an
everlasting memory of an opportunity given yet wasted
And to me God has restored
the hope I had so carelessly lost
So recklessly held with negligence forgetting the hand of my redeemer
But in this day , on this camp meeting God
remembered my poor soul,
He remembered me in His
heavenly dwelling, He saw the blood my savior shed for me
And His forgiveness shone in my soul , He drew me
to himself with the greatest love I have ever known
And drowned my sorry old self
in the deep waters that imitated river Jordan
And there I died , my will
,my desires, my aspirations, my dreams, drowned in that holy steam
And when I rose from that
stream , I saw a new person in Christ, a new creature
With joy so unspeakable that
to this day I cannot comprehend
I will remember this day , I
will not forget the love of my Jesus
I will not forget this camp
meeting, I will not forget the day God told me
“my child I am giving you one
more chance, one more chance to get it right “
Oh how I cherish these old
time camp meetings that began with heroes of
faith
A time of fellowshipping with
the lord ,and with one another
A time to review the year
past ,to search our selves and find mercy
A time of learning all there
is to arm a Christian with all the heavenly artillarry
A time of repentance given to
kings like king saul yet refused the priviledge
A time when the Lord lives His throne from heaven to visit His children
A time when each one of us
will be given accoding to our portion according to our works
And today as I stand outside
this magnificent temple that reminds of noahs ark
Many have been saved from the wrath of the Lord soon to come on the judgment day
As it written,when I see the
blood I will pass, the blood shall be the victors song of praise
And it shall be that,blessed
be the day the lord sent His Son to die for the sins of the world
That who soever hears the
words of the Lord and believeth on the one who sent him
Will escape the judgment and
would have passed from death and unto eternal life.
Emmanuel came to his people
and he saved his people from their sins all at the old time camp meeting.
